Man injured in Parkman accident in hospital

PARKMAN, Maine — A Bangor man was injured Wednesday when he lost control of his car on Route 150 and it struck a telephone pole.
Richard Ridley Jr., 31, was flown by LifeFlight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was in fair condition late Wednesday afternoon.
Ridley, who has family in the Parkman area, was westbound on Route 150 shortly after 1 p.m. when his vehicle went off the road, broke off a telephone pole and flipped over, end to end, investigator Guy Dow of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said.
Guilford firefighters had to use an extrication tool to remove Ridley from the demolished 1993 Chevrolet Lumina. Ridley was wearing his seat belt, Dow said.
Dow said speed may have been a factor. The accident is under investigation.

I hope he gets better but he had to be moving at a pretty good clip to that much damage.
Parkman is one of the only "towns" I know of that does not have a speed limit of 25 mph. And it wouldn't matter, if you do not enforce the speed limit, people will drive however fast they want, without considering children playing and going to school, elderly crossing the street to get the mail, new drivers pulling in and out of driveways, community events, etc. Glad an innocent wasn't injured in this case. Just sitting here in Parkman waiting for the next one! SLOW DOWN PEOPLE!
I wish Mr. Ridley the best! Good luck with your recover and hopefully a lesson is learned from this accident. Why is it, that there are more accidents during the summer months when roads are clear versus winter when roads are snow, ice, and slush covered?

What are you going to do, make the speed limit 25 all the way between Guilford and Cambridge? This accident happened over a mile from town where the speed limit is 50.
He may have been going faster than he should have been, but I highly doubt speed was the actual reason for the accident. There also does not seem to be enough damage to the car to have been going extremely fast
HereInMaine did you miss the upside down car and telephone pole split in half from the impact of the car? The car is totaled. I would hate to see your idea of a lot of damage because the car pictured has a lot of very extensive damage.
Mainefriend are you asking a serious question? Most people slow down when the roads are covered in snow, ice, slush, etc.
Sorry, didn't realize the road was covered with ice.
